Roadside History — Integrated App
Full build (Nov 1, 2026): Virginia 2,688 markers and North Carolina 1,658 markers loaded from the preserved off-Replit extraction, with preserved prerecorded audio served from that same extraction. Virginia marker-record text is an UNVERIFIED assembled copy (byte-exact source still pending the Replit Support export); the audio files themselves are hash-verified. North Carolina markers without a captured recording show their written story on screen instead. Ithaca: the corridor data files are STILL-MISSING — no Ithaca stops are invented here (see the Ithaca note under the state filter). No voice is generated — no device voice, no synthetic narration of any kind; every playable file is a preserved prerecording. Missing audio: Title and location only — no recording available.
Playback self-check
Three preserved recordings wired through this build's own data (one Virginia story of each preserved voice, one North Carolina narration). If a player loads its file and shows a duration, local playback works end to end.
1. Markers
2. Import markers — easy import, with checks
Import a CSV or GeoJSON file. Required columns/fields: source_id, state, title, latitude, longitude, location, inscription, source_url.
Rows missing coordinates, title, or source are quarantined, not imported, and never invented.
Duplicates (same source_id, or same title + coordinates) are flagged, never silently merged.
You preview first, then commit.
3. Trips — make countless trips
Pick markers from the list above (tick them), name the trip, and save it. Or make an auto corridor trip from the markers in list order. Trips are saved in this browser only.
4. Drive — GO / PAUSE / END
Choose a saved trip, then GO. Each stop shows title, location, and story text. If a stop has no recording: Title and location only — no recording available.
The road is calling. Enjoy the ride.
